The “Big House” Experience & Site Interpretation

Phase 1--COMPLETED JANUARY 2018

Drawing on the Foundation's first comprehensive research effort since its establishment, Phase 1 addressed the overreaching narrative shared at the historic site, with particular attention paid to under-represented histories. With a new mansion tour and expanded visitor experience through site interpretation, Phase 1 fully integrated the contributions and histories of the enslaved men, women and children of Oak Alley Plantation and confronted the terrible complexity inherent in the definition of “sugar plantation”.

We are looking forward to sharing with you, the new Oak Alley experience.

Thank you for your support of this National Historic Landmark.
