With sprawling lawns and open spaces, Oak Alley Plantation’s historic grounds provide further opportunity to interpret the complex history of this National Historic Landmark.
With that in mind, the current gardens on the east side of the mansion and the lawn on the west side, will be undergoing archaeological exploration and restoration to create interpretation gardens.
In order to allow the time needed to finish this important preservation project, we regret that Oak Alley Foundation is need, again, to cancel the Annual Bonfire Party that was scheduled for December 2019. The early rise and extreme levels of the Mississippi River have pushed the garden projects back to an unknown date for this Fall. We hope to return to this annual tradition in 2020.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward sharing with you the completion of the plantation gardens. Exciting times ahead as we begin to implement our masterplan.</strong>
